Flood Insurance

Water outside a homeThe year of 2020 has been to say the least one like no other!!  We have had dams break and flood downstream homes, the hurricane season has been an active one and it's not over yet. And then there is the COVID 19 world wide epidemic.

But let's talk FLOOD. The term flood means many things to many people. Let's discuss that. My dishwasher backed up and flooded my kitchen. The kids left the bathtub water running and flooded the bathroom and hallway. Those are not really floods, those are overflow or backups of water. The true meaning of flood is; the overflow of rivers or streams past their normal banks. Then there is storm surge which causes sea water to overflow the shore and the the adjoining land is underwater. There are occasionally city water mains that can break and flood your home also.

Are you at risk for flood damage? There are designated Flood Zones as determined by FEMA, and if your are in a flood zone and have a mortgage on your home, the lender will require flood insurance in addition to property insurance. But what if you are not in a flood zone, does that mean you are safe from flooding? No, sorry but that is not always the case.

There is a solution and it is called Free Flood. if you log on to:  https://floodfactor.com  you can get a free assessment of your flood potential. Just type in your address and zip code and it will give aerial photo of your home and projection of your flood risk. On a scale of 1-10 my home as a 1 .. minimal risk. But do you know what your flood potential is? If you check your address and feel you are at risk, give us a call, we can offer you a Flood Policy.
