COVID 19 & Business Security Concerns

At this time in America many businesses have had to shut their doors due to the COVID 19 virus and the social distancing we are experiencing. Businesses like; hair and nail salons, restaurants, bakeries just to name a few, BUT while the store is dark, is it safe from theft and vandalism?

This is a strange time for all of us, and sadly there are those that will take advantage of the businesses that are dark. Be sure that you keep some lights on for security, are the utilities still running, alarm service still active, is the center offering any security while closings are mandated by state and local officials. Do you know if there are any "extra" keys that a former employee never returned? Can you add a more secure lock on the front and rear doors? And are you checking on the store when you stop to pick up the mail?

Many small businesses have lost their revenue and most could not suffer the lost of their inventory, their equipment or tools. In addition some insurance policies do require an active alarm system for theft prevention. If the alarm service lapses and there is a burglary, there is a chance that a claim would be denied. So be sure and think of ways to keep your business safe until we can re-open and get back to helping and serving the members of our communities
